Due to the great success of Get Active Bootcamps 1 to 41, I am pleased to say that we are doing it again. Now is your opportunity to experience the same improvements and enjoyment that others are really happy with.

What exercise will you be doing?

Get Active Bootcamp has 3 different sessions each week which are:

  • Mondays – Personalised Circuits 1
  • Wednesdays – Personalised Circuits 2
  • Saturdays – Running

Doing any of these sessions is fantastic for improving your fitness and losing weight, and using a combination of these sessions will help you get you even quicker and better results.

It’s entirely up to you which sessions you would like to do. You can choose to do 1, 2, or 3 bootcamp sessions each week. The more sessions you do, the quicker results you will get but you will still see massive improvements by just doing 1 or 2 sessions each week.

Here’s what you can look forward to with your bootcamp sessions…

Personalised Circuits 1 & 2

These sessions are my specially designed circuit type sessions which are highly effective for improving your fitness and losing weight:

  • Personalised Circuits are a mix of different exercises to help you get fitter, lose weight, and tone your lower body, upper body, stomach and back

These Personalised Circuits sessions are suitable for people with ANY fitness level, from complete beginners to more experienced exercisers, because they are adapted to suit you.

People who want to lose several stones, have arthritis, have replacement knees and hips, and have fibromyalgia, have made great progress with these sessions at the bootcamp. By developing a fitter and stronger body this has actually helped people feel better with these conditions and have fewer problems.

It’s all about doing what you can and building on your fitness and strength. This will help with ALL areas of your life both physically and mentally.

You’ll also be able to monitor your progress. So you can see how much you are improving and how well you are doing which is great for motivation and self-confidence.

Personalised Circuits 1 & 2 are alternated each week on Mondays and Wednesdays so that you have the opportunity to do both sessions. This helps you get the very best results and also provides you with the most enjoyment.

The location is at Barnsley College Sports Academy (at Honeywell) which is within a mile of Barnsley town centre and has excellent facilities.

The feedback from bootcamp members shows that as well as experiencing much greater fitness and losing weight, they actually really enjoy their sessions.

Exercise that was once a chore to many people is now fun, and their bootcamp sessions are something that they look forward to.

Running Sessions

These sessions are based around running because running will help you get much quicker and much better results than virtually ANY other exercise. It’s right up there with Personalised Circuits.

Here are 10 reasons why you’ll find running to be so useful to you…

  1. Running is great for improving fitness – Tests using the best measure of fitness (VO2 max) have shown that running is one of the top 3 exercises in the world for increasing your fitness levels. So get running if you want to increase your fitness quickly and get the highest fitness level
  1. Running is great for losing weight – Running has been proven to be one of the best calorie burning exercises on the planet. In fact it’s second only to cross country skiing which obviously isn’t practical, especially in Barnsley! So if you want to lose weight then it makes sense to run
  1. Running is great for improving health – With running you get a stronger heart, stronger bones, stronger muscles, more efficient lungs, and a better immune system. So you get to feel much fitter and much healthier every single day of your life
  1. Running gets you a better looking body – With running you will maintain healthy and attractive muscle while losing fat, which means that you lose those unwanted inches around your bum, thighs, and stomach. So you get a toned looking body that you are happy with
  1. Running makes you feel more alive – When you get into running you will have lots more energy every day. So there’s no more feeling tired and sluggish. You can do more of the things you enjoy, and you’ll feel much better while doing them
  1. Running gives you less risk of suffering from ill health and diseases – Running is proven to give you a lower risk of suffering from depression, several types of cancers (such as breast, ovarian, and colon cancer), osteoporosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and heart attacks, stroke, and arthritis
  1. Running is great for your knees – The myth about running damaging your knees is totally untrue which has been shown by several scientific studies. One study showed that runners were 5 times less likely to have disabling problems in their legs than non-runners
  1. Running is a very convenient exercise – Running requires little equipment, requires no gym membership, doesn’t cost much, and can be done anywhere without much or any travelling. Plus you can get great results in a short amount of time. No other exercise will give you all this!
  1. Running is a very enjoyable exercise – Yes, running can seem hard at the start, but when you do the right training and you experience the great benefits that running provides, then it quickly grows on you. Before starting running I couldn’t see why anyone would want to do it. Now I want to keep running for the rest of my life!
  1. Running has other great benefits – The study above also proved that runners have fewer health problems, lower blood pressure, stronger hearts, better fitness, weigh less, age slower, and live longer than non-runners. Overall, if you want significantly improve your health and fitness then it’s time to take up running!

So now that you know that running will be a great help to you, here’s what you will achieve with your running sessions…

If you are a beginner runner, then Get Active Bootcamp will help you get much fitter and progress very quickly towards being able to run for 30 minutes continuously. This is roughly equivalent to 5km in distance.

So this will help you if you are completely new to running, or you can already run for anywhere between 1 minute and 30 minutes. Just so that you know, most people struggle to run at all when they start running, so don’t worry if this is you.

In fact most bootcamp members can barely run for 1 minute when they first start, but then they improve really quickly.

The running method we will be using is a run-walk method that I’ve specially designed to help you progress very quickly towards 30 minutes continuous running.

If you are a more experienced runner, that can already run for more than 30 minutes, then Get Active Bootcamp will help you make great improvements to your fitness and speed.

You’ll be shown how to quickly increase your fitness and you’ll become a much quicker runner.

The running methods we will be using are fartlek and interval sessions. These sessions will help you get fitter and faster. They are also targeted towards losing fat which helps you become a better runner and get a much better looking body than other types of sessions where you lose fat and muscle.

These running sessions are on Saturdays and get your weekend off to a great start both physically and mentally.

The feedback from bootcamp members also shows that these sessions encourage people to eat healthier over the weekend. Plus if they do have a treat, like a glass of wine or a take-away, then they feel like they deserve it and can enjoy it, rather than feeling guilty.

Whether you are a beginner exerciser, or an experienced exerciser, the sessions are personalised to suit YOU. This means that you get maximum benefits in terms of fitness, health, body shape, and also enjoyment.

"I am now into my 5th boot camp and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I have always tried to keep fit and up until having my daughter 3 years ago regularly attended the gym. However, after having her, I lost my motivation and by the time I had my son 6 months ago my gym attendance had become sporadic.

I then saw a Facebook advert for James’ boot camp sessions and decided to give it a go. I can now say it’s one of the best decisions I have made and I have loved it from the very start.
