"I am now taking part in my third bootcamp and absolutely love it. I have never been good at exercising and even at school avoided it as much as I could. My friend Bev was doing the bootcamp and I saw how much of a difference it was making to her and how happy she seemed doing it so I thought I would give it a go.

I contacted James who was so helpful and supportive right from the start and paid my money up front to make sure I would go.

I was absolutely terrified on my first night… how would I cope?… would I even be able to do one exercise never mind 3 circuits?… would I look silly?… would I be too big? Within minutes of arriving I was put at ease and started to make new friends.

In the two bootcamps I have completed I have completely surprised myself at how well I have done. From being unable to go upstairs without getting out of breath I have really improved my fitness levels and can play with my 3 young boys without getting out of breath. It’s changed my life.

Having suffered with depression for many years I have found that exercising has not only helped me gain physical fitness but also my mental well-being has improved dramatically.

Starting bootcamp was one of the best things I have ever signed up to and I am so grateful to James for all his encouragement and support. I hope to keep up the bootcamps for as long as I can and am now starting to train for a 5k run I have signed up for! Who would have thought it!

If you are thinking about signing up then go for it. Seriously… it is life changing in so many ways!"

The group is very friendly and welcomes all new members. You are not pressured in any way. You put in as much or as little effort as you can.

As always, exercise is sometimes hard work but when you start seeing the results of your fitness and weight loss it’s definitely worth it."

"I have just completed my first 6 week boot camp sessions and wow how different I feel about myself. In just the 6 weeks I feel so much fitter and healthier.

I saw the advert for the boot camp on Facebook and really wanted to join but was so apprehensive as I have fibromyalgia, asthma and let’s say I am no skinny bird!!! I contacted James Porter the coach and he assured me that I would be ok and to just go and give it a go.

I paid in advance, to ensure I would go, and it has honestly been the best thing I could have done. With the help and encouragement from James, after just 6 weeks I already feel so much better, fitter, and I have lost 12 pounds in weight.

James keeps us informed of our progress which urges us on to keep going and do even better. I thoroughly enjoy all the sessions.

"I am now into my 5th boot camp and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I have always tried to keep fit and up until having my daughter 3 years ago regularly attended the gym. However, after having her, I lost my motivation and by the time I had my son 6 months ago my gym attendance had become sporadic.

I then saw a Facebook advert for James’ boot camp sessions and decided to give it a go. I can now say it’s one of the best decisions I have made and I have loved it from the very start.

The sessions are so enjoyable but challenging as well. They are suitable for all levels – you get out of them what you put in.

My fellow boot campers are so friendly and help make every session fun. But it is James who I really need to thank. He is a true inspiration and keeps me motivated so that I never want to miss a session. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he offers support and advice to each and every one of us. I can genuinely say I enjoy every session.

I do both the circuit sessions and running sessions at the boot camp. With my running sessions I started right in the bottom group but with James’ support, within 4 months I progressed from 1 minute runs to the advanced group and can see massive improvements in my fitness. I am now even training for a 10k run!

If I can do it anyone can!"

"I decided to join the bootcamp because I wanted to lose weight and get fitter. I’d cancelled my gym membership a few months before because I just wasn’t seeing any results and had lost all motivation.

Turning up for the first bootcamp session was the hardest bit, but the group was lovely and really supportive – most people were in exactly the same situation!

I started off right at the bottom, doing one minute runs and I never would have thought that within about 8 weeks I’d be able to run for half an hour with no rest!

I’m also doing the indoor circuit sessions and each week I can see an improvement in my fitness and performance. James pushes you just enough to keep you progressing but not so much that you burn out.

I’d advise anyone thinking of joining bootcamp to go for it. We’re a friendly bunch and there are always new starters, so you won’t be on your own. Once you’ve made a start – stick at it. The weeks go by really quickly and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you progress.

I’m really glad I did it – I’m so much fitter, my clothes fit a lot better, and I’ve met some fab people!"

"At the age of 57 and with arthritic hips and knees I was beginning to get worried about my fitness and my health. I saw the boot camp advert on Facebook and decided to give it a go so I signed up for 2 sessions a week for 6 weeks.

Some days I have a lot of pain in my joints and just getting out of a chair or walking up and down stairs is uncomfortable so I was very apprehensive.

On my first week with James’ sessions I was amazed at how well I coped. I have been doing the indoor sessions where we do circuits consisting of a variety of exercises.

I just love these sessions. You feel you have worked every part of your body when you’ve finished. We also work on each exercise for just 30 seconds and then move on to the next which is good because it’s fast moving and keeps you interested.

I can’t believe how much better I feel. My muscles feel so much stronger and even my posture has improved. I do still get pain in my joints but I’m hoping that by strengthening my muscles it will stop the pain getting any worse.

I can thoroughly recommend boot camp to young and not so young, male or female who want to improve their fitness and health."

"Since joining bootcamp I’ve surprised myself. On starting I couldn’t run for longer than 4 mins but now after several weeks I’m able to run for a full 30 minutes. Plus the bootcamp has also helped my weight loss, currently a loss of 18 pounds.

I went from not exercising at all… to then going into the boot camp. I started the run and walk sessions 12 weeks ago, I can now comfortably run 5k and working towards 10k.

"I joined bootcamp with James, unable to run any more than a couple of minutes on my own. I wanted to improve my fitness and lose a bit of weight.

I found the group really easy to join and work at my own pace. The sessions are varied and motivating and it is easy to see your improvements each week which keeps you going.

"Before I started at the fitness bootcamp I was unhappy with my weight, my fitness and generally with the way I felt about myself.

I had attempted running before but with very little success, quite frankly I found it boring and soon gave up. Then I saw an advertisement on Facebook for the fitness bootcamp and decided to bite the bullet and give it a go, and I’m so glad I did.

Since I started I have gone from being able to barely run for 1 min at a time to being able to run for longer with less breaks. This is down to the way the James has devised the bootcamp with run/walk sessions.

There are many different abilities at bootcamp; people who have started at the bottom and are working their way up like me, to those who are already experienced runners. We are all different ages and everyone works at their own pace and nobody is pushed beyond their capabilities.

Running has helped me gain confidence, improved my fitness, and I have lost size and improved my body shape. I have made some brilliant friends since I started and we all encourage each other.

If anyone is thinking about joining, don’t think, just do it. You won’t regret it, I haven’t. It was the best decision I’ve made in a while!"

"When I joined boot camp I was at a pretty low ebb, overweight and totally unfit. So when I saw the advert for boot camp I thought it would be a good opportunity to drag myself off the settee and try and sort myself out.

I had run before but it didn’t last long and I am also a more than once failed gym member. But I absolutely love the boot camp. It’s a brilliant way of getting yourself motivated.

I am possibly the oldest and perhaps the most overweight but there is no poking fun at anyone and it might be a clichΓ© but you really do get encouragement from everyone.

You run at your own pace and James manages to keep a close eye on all of us. He knows when we are ready to move up and when we are struggling.

I can only go once a week but have made great improvements. This is now the second boot camp I have done with James and I feel tons better in lots of ways. I have made some great friends and I thoroughly enjoy my sessions.

So all I can say is don’t think you can’t do it. If I can anyone can. All I need to do now is stay off the chocolate."

"Having just finished the first 6 weeks of boot camp, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with James and all the other runners. They have made it an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

"When James invited me to take part in his running boot camp, I never thought that within 2 months I would be able to run for 10 minutes up to three times with only a short recovery in between; when I started I was barely able to run for a minute.

I am now confident of achieving my target of being able to run steadily for 30 minutes (about 5k).

James approach is to assess each participants fitness level and develop a structured programme that suits them. It’s like having your own personal trainer, but with the advantage of running with a small group of people of similar fitness who offer encouragement and support to each other.

James style of coaching suits me. He pushes people to do their best but in a supportive and helpful manner without any heavy pressure to perform. I really look forward my sessions and feel much fitter, stronger and positive thanks to James!!"

"When I first saw the Facebook page for James’s bootcamp I thought that it looked interesting and something a little different. I had been trying to get back into running again but lacked a little motivation.

I felt a little nervous going initially, wondering if I was going to manage it but I am so glad I gave it a shot because I have really enjoyed all the different types of training that James sets us, even running up those hills now and again!!!

Training all together as a group is also great because we can encourage each other along. The regular advice and updates on your progress really keeps you motivated. I feel I have improved a lot in the last couple of months and can’t believe I’d say this but "Bring on the next bootcamp" πŸ™‚
